Hhgregg recently announced that it will hire more than 250 employees for new stores opening in the Tampa area this fall. The company is currently accepting applications for commissioned sales associates and manager in training positions.
"We are excited about our growth in Tampa and are looking forward to hiring new hhgregg associates to be a part of our team," Regional Manager Angela Larrabee said. "We welcome applicants with previous sales and electronics experience, but we also encourage those with a friendly and customer-service focused attitude, who may not have retail experience, to apply. Hhgregg has a comprehensive
training program, which provides more than 200 hours of training each year to our staff."
While sales and customer service experience is beneficial to applicants, they must also have a friendly attitude and be focused on customer service. Those who are bilingual and speak Spanish are strongly encouraged to apply.
The added jobs should help the Tampa area's
declining economy. During July, the Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater area saw its unemployment rate increase from 11.2 percent to 11.3 percent.
The area had a total non-farm employment of 1,151,800 workers during July, according to the United States Department of Labor
Bureau of Labor Statistics. This is down from 1,164,500 workers during June and a 4.6 percent decrease from last year.
The
State of Florida as a whole saw its unemployment rate remain flat at 10.7 percent, but nonetheless continued to lose jobs. The state had a total non-farm employment of 7,354,800 workers during July, down from 7,380,000 workers during June and a 5.2 percent decrease from last year.
