The number of
sales careers Phoenix has to offer in the retail industry continues to be bolstered by increasing sales.
A recent report from the
National Retail Federation found that retail sales increased by .3 percent during June, marking the 12th consecutive monthly increase. Great weather, low gas prices, and Father's Day sales all helped pushed sales higher.
"A solid year of growth in sales provides further evidence that
retailers continue to lead the charge in the economic recovery," Matthew Shay, president and CEO of the NRF, said. "While spending continues to surpass expectations, sustained growth in the retail sector depends on a strong labor market."
A separate report from the
U.S. Department of Commerce found that retail sales increased by .1 percent on a seasonally adjusted basis over the month and by 8.4 percent on an unadjusted basis over the year.
Here's a look at how some stores fared over the month:
- Building material and garden equipment stores - +1.3 percent
- Clothing and clothing accessories stores - +.7 percent
- Electronic and appliance stores - -.2 percent
- Health and personal care stores - -.2 percent
- Home furnishings stores - -.8 percent
