Physical Therapy Jobs Arizona Among Best for Older Workers

The physical therapy jobs Arizona (http://rehabjob.abrazohealth.com) has to offer are among the best options for elderly people seeking work.

Given the state of the economy, many older people who would normally be retiring are deciding to stay at their current job longer, go back to work, or pick up a second job to earn a little bit more money.

Over the last five years, the number of employees aged 65 and older has increased by 24 percent to 6.7 million. Of those, about half are employed full-time, and about 1.3 million of those are 75 years or older.

"They can be a good resource, bringing 30 or 40 years of work experience to the table and not looking to squeeze every last dollar out of a position," RetirementJobs.com Vice President Bill Coleman said in a statement. "That can be very appealing to an organization."

According to an article by the Associated Press, the top five jobs for elderly employees include:
  1. Healthcare - This includes a number of jobs, from home health and personal aides to medical assistants and physical therapist aides. Many of these positions don't require extensive degrees and allow employees to work a flexible schedule.
  2. Retail - Some of the most popular retail positions are customer service, retail manager, floor supervisor, and greeter. Retail jobs offer a lot of flexibility, including part-time and seasonal positions.
  3. Government - A number of government jobs are available for elderly employees, especially those looking to work for the Department of Veterans Affairs or the Transportation Security Administration.
  4. Computer work - Although some specific training is required to learn new skills, there are lots of tech-related jobs for older workers, including everything from data entry to data communication systems and networks.
  5. Temp agencies - Reputable temp agencies can place elderly workers in a number of ideal jobs. These positions usually offer flexible schedules and can be part-time or full-time.
