Physical Therapy Jobs Arizona Among Best for Older Workers

Given the state of the economy, many older people who would normally be retiring are deciding to stay at their current job longer, go back to work, or pick up a second job to earn a little bit more money.

Over the last five years, the number of employees aged 65 and older has increased by 24 percent to 6.7 million. Of those, about half are employed full-time, and about 1.3 million of those are 75 years or older.

"They can be a good resource, bringing 30 or 40 years of work experience to the table and not looking to squeeze every last dollar out of a position," RetirementJobs.com Vice President Bill Coleman said in a statement. "That can be very appealing to an organization."

According to an article by the Associated Press, the top five jobs for elderly employees include:
  1. Healthcare - This includes a number of jobs, from home health and personal aides to medical assistants and physical therapist aides. Many of these positions don't require extensive degrees and allow employees to work a flexible schedule.
  2. Retail - Some of the most popular retail positions are customer service, retail manager, floor supervisor, and greeter. Retail jobs offer a lot of flexibility, including part-time and seasonal positions.
  3. Government - A number of government jobs are available for elderly employees, especially those looking to work for the Department of Veterans Affairs or the Transportation Security Administration.
  4. Computer work - Although some specific training is required to learn new skills, there are lots of tech-related jobs for older workers, including everything from data entry to data communication systems and networks.
  5. Temp agencies - Reputable temp agencies can place elderly workers in a number of ideal jobs. These positions usually offer flexible schedules and can be part-time or full-time.

Oncology Jobs Recognized for Female Patient Satisfaction

Those with oncology jobs at one prestigious organization were recently honored for their patient satisfaction among women.

WomenCertified recently named Cancer Treatment Centers of America at Eastern Regional Medical Center in Philadelphia as one of the nation's Top 100 Hospitals for Patient Experience. The facility was ranked sixth in the nation for its high female patient satisfaction.

Hospitals were ranked using a process that incorporates scores from the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems; a number of other criteria that are important to women; and WomenCertified's own in-depth research on customer satisfaction among women.

"At CTCA we strive to do everything we can to improve the patient experience, while remaining focused on helping those facing cancer fight their disease and maintain a high quality of life," John McNeil, president and CEO of CTCA in Philadelphia, said in a statement. "This award is a wonderful honor that demonstrates our commitment to listen and respond to what is important to our patients."

WomenCertified also honored CTCA with the Women's Choice Award, signifying a high recommendation of the hospital.

"Women make or influence more than 85 percent of all healthcare decisions for themselves and their families," Delia Passi, CEO and founder of WomenCertified, said. "Recognizing the top hospitals nationwide that are women-friendly and align with women's identified preferences is important to our mission at WomenCertified, where we are women helping women make smart choices."
